Welcome

This is the blog for Longden Church of England Aided Primary School, a small rural community school offering a Christian education for children aged 5 to 11. Our school is located in three acres of delightful grounds, in rolling hills 5 miles south-west of Shrewsbury. We have an established reputation for high standards of achievement in core aspects of learning and our pupils enjoy a broad and exciting curriculum. In a recent OFSTED inspection (Jan 2007), 9 out of the 27 inspection standards were graded 'outstanding' including personal development and well-being, curriculum and other activities. The remaining 18 were all 'good' including teaching and learning and standards of achievement. In May 2007 we were awarded Artsmark status by the Arts Council of Great Britain and in September we were one of forty-two schools nationally to be awarded the new Primary Geography Quality Mark (see post A Sense of Place at Longden School)

Gala Film Premiere Night A Great Success

The film was a great success and all who attended agreed the children's Superhero animations were wonderful. Despite a few hitches - such as leaving the Incredibles DVD in my basket at Sainsbury's and trying to load a blank CD disc - the evening was tremendously enjoyable. Star of the Willow class films was the disco dancing Humpty, likewise the dancing took the honours for Ash class, the greedy monster Grendel downing hearty Geats in one gulp was a Chestnut masterpiece and Oak's villains Dr Chill, Mr Eagle and Crooked Crow were suitably evil. Many thanks to all the parents who helped with the refreshments: the school smelt faintly of pop corn for the next week! We all enjoed a last day showing of The Incredibles, a well-deserved treat for a really hard-working half-term. Well done you budding Fassbinders and Herzogs.
